Where were you when...?

Our memories are made by our life experiences - big or small. Some memories tend to fade or become confused as time passes. This does not hold true for momentous events, be they personal moments or shared with others.

When John F. Kennedy was assinated, I was 10 years old. I think my brother was 5. My parents, my brother, and I were living in Victoria, Texas. I remember watching the Special Report, and watching John F. Kennedy's funaral on TV. Back then TV was black & white.

This is one of the few memories that I can remember vividly from my youth. I had just turned 5 years old and was visiting my aunt with my mother and sister.

We were in the kitchen when my older cousins ran in looking very distraught. "Elvis is dead! What are we going to do?".

At the time I was very young and asked who Elvis was. My cousin Georgina said that he was the best singer of all time.

Ever since that day I've always been fascinated with Elvis and why he was so popular. He must have electrified the air with his charisma and. He is one person I wish I could have met and been old enough to appreciate when he was still alive.
